Mountain Chickadee (Poecile gambeli)Nest: Building and Abandoning the Nest

On May 1, 2001 a Mountain Chickadee pair started building a nest in nest box #31.
They abandon the nest and box a few days later.
You will see that the first layer of the nest was made of lichens and mosses.
Shortly after the chickadees abandoned the nest box, a pair of Violet-green swallows moved in.
